I've decided to jump on the band wagon and post a to-do list on here. I usually just write them out on my cute hot pink post-it notes. But this way I can share them with the world and perhaps feel more accountable. OR NOT!

Weekend To-Do List:

- Write with the power of 50 Chuck Norris's

- Finish first batch of Christmas Cards. (I'm still taking names if you want one: http://jupitersings.livejournal.com/11180.html)

- Finish first half of 1k Character Drawings.

- Read More: Common Sense, Rights of Man, and other essential writings of Thomas Paine, Every Soul A Star, and The Seeing Eye.

- Work on design for the on sale wedding silk I got last month. (Christmas Dress?)

- Configure the record to CD program and work on mixing Grandfathers CD. (Cheapest and best Christmas present for family ever.)

- Find Oil Paints.

- Practice accordion and Yodeling for memorial.

- New Holiday layout for lj?

     I have decided that every day in November I will do a word of the day. I have no real reason for posting it here, though I thought I would if for nothing more than to have as a future reference. Every day I will search for a word I haven't used before, find the meaning, and incorporate it in to my story.

While reading through things on the internet I come across a lot of typos. Some are on purpose, some are simple mistakes... Yet there are some other mistakes that when made frequently tend to bother me.
One of these mistakes, is the misuse of Accept and Except.



Accept: verb

Taken from Latin acceptare, frequentative of accipere ‘take something to oneself,’ from ad- ‘to’ + capere ‘take.’

1. Consent to receive. He accepted his award.
2. Agree to something. She accepted his invitation.
3. A welcome, or favorable approval. They were accepted by their peers.
4. Taking a responsibility. I accept the blame.
5. Acknowledging something as being correct or right. The laws were accepted by the general public.

Except: preposition

Taken from Latin except- ‘taken out,’ from the verb excipere, from ex- ‘out of’ + capere ‘take.’

1. Not including; other than. I packed everything except my socks.



I'm not the greatest with grammar, particularly in explaining anything. Hopefully I haven't thoroughly butchered it. This is just a late night rant. With my luck and brilliance I've probably made a painfully obvious grammatical error in here.
